Frequently Asked Questions 2011/2012
The Rovers are 100% committed to player development. Player development comes, in part from competition, but primarily from the training players receive.
How much will the Rovers cost? Soccer has become an expensive sport with many of the charges front loaded. It will have a down payment and then monthly payments tied to a credit card that will be run automatically.
How many teams are you trying to form in June 2011?
Where will practices be held? All training sessions for the players will be at Woodland Sports in Grand Rapids. The only exception to this will be the U15G team based in Grandville.
Who will run training? Each team will be assigned a Head Coach who will be assisted by the Rovers Training Staff.
When will training start? During the summer months of July and August, the Rovers will conduct two weekly training sessions.
Is that enough? In addition all Rovers Premier teams will participate (periodically) in 3 day camps that will bring each team together for 3 days of training, conditioning and team building. The cost to the players for these camps has not been determined at this point.
What about pre-season games? During the pre-season, each team will typically play 2-3 "friendlies" against appropriate level of competition.
Will the teams be going to Tournaments? Rover teams will decide how they want to handle tournaments.
What if my player wants to guest play with another club at a tournament? Most clubs have a problem with this. The Rovers do not. We will be issuing a player card and team roster for each player and parent to hold so there is complete freedom to play any time the opportunity presents itself. The only stipulation is that the Rovers practices, games and tournaments come first.
